Nick Drake

Three albums. Each one quieter than the last. The whole arc in under four years.

The arc

Nick Drake made three albums before he died at twenty-six, and together they trace one of the most singular arcs in recorded music — from the orchestrated warmth of Five Leaves Left, to the fragile introspection of Bryter Layter, to the bare candlelight of Pink Moon. He was barely known in his lifetime. The world caught up later. Start at the beginning and follow it all the way down. It's worth every minute.
